More about Amy Mothersbaugh,
I am an artist known in the Akron area. I owned and operated my own art gallery and artist studio rental spaces, Studio 2091 in Cuyahoga Falls, for nine years at which I curated and sold the art of hundreds of local and international artists.
I have been Akron Zoological Parks’ muralist since 2011 and created a body of watercolor art from the study of bug, butterflies, and bats based on the exhibitions within the Akron Zoo. The body of these works was begun while caring for both of my parents through their end of life, and over time have grown into containing over 300 pieces, always changing due to sales and additions. I debuted showing them, at my gallery in Cuyahoga Falls as the last show my gallery hosted before closing. The mayor of Cuyahoga Falls, Don Walters, attended that opening and gifted me with a proclamation making January 12, 2019 Amy Mothersbaugh Day. I was honored for creating a vibrant art community during the life of my gallery. The series had a solo show of 230 pieces at The Cleveland Botanical Garden, May – June 2022, and several shows in 2023 at Bell Tower Brewery, in Kent.
In conjunction with this, I have curated art programs, taught workshops to groups ranging from children to seniors, and started a nonprofit with Knight Foundation Grant Funds (Akron Soul Train). I have spent this past year on my farm in Cuyahoga Falls continuously inspired and soothed by nature in ways I’d love to help others find through art-based workshops in the future.
I have curated and juried shows at Summit Art Space in Akron,Ohio Collage Society, Ohio Mart and at Peninsula Art Academy.
